Disassemble and assemble the cylinder head > < Disassemble and assemble the drive disc

Disassemble
Disassemble
–  First disassemble the toothed belt → Chapter.
–  The disassembly of the camshaft follows → Chapter.
–  Remove the flat-type tappets and install them with the rolling surface facing downward. Be sure not to confuse the tappets.
–  Remove the spark plugs by unscrewing them.
–  Position the bolt of each cylinder in the “lower neutral position”.
   
–  Place the assembly device -2036- and adjust the housing to the height of the stud.
–  Use the special tool -U-10073-.
–  Screw the pressure hose -VW 653/3- into the threads of the spark plug.
–  Use the special tool -U-10073-.
–  Connect the pressure hose to compressed air with overpressure of at least 6 bar.
–  Disassemble the springs from the valves with a disassembly lever -VW 541/1A- and with the pressure part -VW 541/5-.
–  Use the special tool -U-10073-.
  Note!
Loosen the conical parts from the valves with hard seatings by lightly tapping them with a hammer in the assembly lever.
–  Remove the gaskets of the valve stems with the -3047 A- equipment.
