t  Fault reader -V.A.G 1551- (or vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552-)

t  Cable -V.A.G 1551/3B-
The vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552- can be used instead of the fault reader -V.A.G 1551-, although a printout will not be possible in such cases.
Checking conditions
l  Fault eliminated
  Note!
After having eliminated the fault, the fault memory should be consulted again and then erased as follows:
Test sequence
–  Connect fault reader -V.A.G 1551- (V.A.G 1552) and select engine electronics control unit with the “address code” 01. When doing so the engine must be idling. (Fault reader: Connecting and selecting the engine electronics control unit → Chapter.)

Indicated on display:
–  Press keys 0 and 2 for function “Interrogate fault memory” and confirm entry with the Q-key.

–  Continue to press key untill all the previously memorized faults have been displayed and appear again on the display:
–  Press keys 0 and 5 for the function “Erase fault memory” and confirm entry with the Q-key.

Indicated on display:
–  If the fault menmory does not erase, it means that there is still a fault that needs to be eliminated.
–  Press the -key.

Fault memory is erased                  
Indicated on display:
–  Press keys 0 and 6 for the “End data transfer” function and confirm input with the Q-key.
–  Carry out another test drive and interrogate fault memory again. No fault must be visible
