Servicing notes for ABS
t  Before repairing the ABS system, the reason for the fault should be found using the self-diagnosis → Running gear; self-diagnosis for ABS; Rep. Gr.01.
t  Disconnect battery earth strap before working on the ABS system. For vehicles fitted with a coded radio, first check the anti-theft code
t  Before soldering with an electric soldering iron, observe the following: → General notes; General body repairs-assembly work.
t  When handling brake fluid, observe safety precautions and current regulations → Chapter
t  After carrying out work in which the brake system had to be opened, bleed the system with brake bleeding apparatus -SAT 1150- → Chapter
t  During the test drive make sure that the at least one braking action activates the ABS system (the pulsations should be felt in the brake pedal)
t  Work on the ABS system demands the highest levels of cleanliness; under no circumstances should auxilliary materials that contain mineral oils be used, such as oil, grease etc.
t  Before soldering connections they should be thouroughly cleaned , but do not use abrassive strong cleaning products such as brake cleaner, petrol, dilutants or similar products
t  Place parts that have been removed on a clean surface and cover.
t  After having separated the control unit from the hydraulic unit, use transport protection for the valve stems.
t  Cover the open parts carefully if the repair is not going to be carried out immediately. (use the plugs from repair kit -1 H0 698 311 A-)
t  Do not use fibrous cloths.
t  Only take spares out of their packaging just before assembly.
t  Only use replacement parts which come in their original packaging.
t  If the system is open, do not use compressed air and do not move vehicle.
t  Make sure that brake fluid does not enter the connectors.
