Installation
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence; note the following:
The link between the longitudinal swinging arm and the steering strut can only be fastened after having fitted the other components of the suspension of the corresponding wheel (the spring and the shock absorber must be fitted first). The wheel suspension must be in extended position before securing. Only now move the longitudinal arm and the steering strut to the position -arrows-.
–  Install coil spring → Chapter.

Position: bolted joint longitudinal arm/steering knuckle
  Note
It is most important to follow the order shown when carrying out the following steps.
  N42-10019
–  Fit the longitudinal swinging arm and the clutch pedal bracket with the bolts -2- on the stub axle, but without tightening.
–  Fit the link rod -3- on the longitudinal swinging arm, but do not tighten the nut yet.
–  Raise the wheel suspension using the engine crane -V.A.G 1383 A- until the support bracket is supported on the bodywork.
  N42-10015
–  Tighten bolts -arrows- on position of old imprint.
–  Lower the wheel suspension again using the motor driven lift -V.A.G 1383 A-.
  A42-0431
–  Tighten the screws -2- of the longitudinal control arm at the proper tightening torque. Check the proper seating of the components → Fig..
  N42-10015
–  Fasten the link rod -1- to the steering knuckle and the stabiliser bar.
  A42-0429
–  Fasten -arrow- the hand brake cable -1- to the longitudinal swinging arm -2-.
After assembly, the convergence adjustment on the axle alignment platform must be checked.
