Servicing a washer fluid hose with corrugated tube   Note Corrugated pipes connecting piece can be repaired using shrink-fit hose. The replacement parts can be found in the → electronic parts list. Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Hot air blower, 220 V/ 50 Hz -VAS 1978/14- from wiring harness repair set -VAS 1978B- or

t  Hot air pistol -VAS 5179- or t  Hot air pistol -V.A.G 1416/-

t  Cutting pliers -VAS 6228- t  Connection piece -1J0 955 875 R- t  Connection piece -1J0 955 875-   Note t  The repaired area should not be pulled or bent. t  If the faulty area is over 20 mm, a new piece of corrugated hose should be fitted and the following operations carried out twice: Checking sequence

–  Cut washer fluid hose at point of damage using cutting pliers -VAS 6228-. –  Select the appropriate connecting pieces -2- and -3- from the parts catalogue → Electronic parts catalogue. –  Push the connecting piece -2- in in the end of the hose -1-; Repeat the process for the other end of the hose.

–  Cut the shrink-fit hose -5- so that it covers at least 20 mm of the corrugated hose at both ends. –  Position the shrink-fit hose -5- to one end of the washer fluid line. –  Connect the ends -2 and 3- of the washer fluid line. –  Push shrink hose over connection pieces on washer fluid hose.

–  Provide at least 20 mm on both ends -Dimension x-. –  After pushing on, the shrink-fit hose must be shrink-fitted using the hot-air blower, 220 V/ 50 Hz -VAS 1978/14- or the hot-air blower -VAS 5179- or the hot-air blower -V.A.G 1416/-. l  The shrink hose must be heated starting from the centre and working outwards until it is sealed tight. l  Set hot air blower to appropriate temperature as indicated in operating instructions. l  When shrink-fitting, ensure no other wires, plastic components or insulating materials are damaged by the hot nozzle. –  Check operation and test for leaks.
