Rear axle speed sensor: Removing and installing
Rear axle speed sensor: Removing and installing
Removal:
–  Raise the vehicle.
–  Remove wheel.
–  Switch ignition OFF.
   
–  Unscrew mounting bolt from speed sensor -2-.
–  Pull speed sensor -1- out of wheel bearing housing.
–  Unscrew the Torx bolts -3- and pull out the cable retainer.

–  Remove hexagonal bolt -1-.
–  Unscrew the Torx bolts -2- and pull out the cable retainer.

–  Unclip speed sensor wiring from retainers.
–  Remove heat shield sheet metal cover at rear section of exhaust system.
–  Raise rear bench seat and remove from mount.

–  Release cable bracket, unplug speed sensor connector -1- and press out grommet (left and right sides are the same).
Installation
Install in reverse order.
–  Before fitting the sensor, clean the inner surface of the hole and apply solid lubricant paste → Parts catalogue.

–  Tighten the hexagon screws -1- to a tightening torque of 10 Nm and the Torx screws -2- to 8 Nm.
–  Tighten mounting bolt on speed sensor to 10 Nm.
Checking rotor on rear axle
–  Raise the vehicle.
–  Remove wheel.
–  Unscrew speed sensor from wheel bearing housing.
–  Check that rotor is not damaged or dirty.
Removing and installing rotor on rear axle
Removal:
–  Raise the vehicle.
–  Remove wheel.
–  Detach brake calliper
–  Hang up brake calliper on body.
–  Check that rotor is not damaged or dirty.
–  If the rotor is damaged, always remove and replace wheel hub with rotor.
–  Wheel hub: Removing and installing → Rep. gr.42.
Installation
Install in reverse order.
–  Route speed sensor cable as before removal
–  Before fitting the sensor, clean the inner surface of the hole and apply solid lubricant paste → Parts catalogue.
–  Tighten mounting bolt on speed sensor to 10 Nm.
