Removing and installing handbrake lever Removal: –  Remove central console → Bodywork, interior fitting work; Rep. gr.68. –  Remove the support foot for the centre console → bodywork, Interior fitting work; Rep. gr.68.

–  Release handle -1- with a screwdriver -3- and remove.

–  Remove the cover -4- and the handle -1-.

–  Unscrew hex. head bolts -2- and remove bracket -1-. With both handbrake cables hooked in –  Insert the screwdriver in the release opening. –  Push screwdriver in direction of the „centre adjustment“. –  Hold down a screwdriver and slowly actuate the handbrake lever.   Note Take care that the rope eyes do not jump out of the hooks. –  Remove screwdriver and unhook handbrake cables. –  Unhook handbrake cables. With one handbrake cable hooked in

–  Release the mechanism with a screwdriver -2- and at the same time push back the second spring-loaded hook -1- with a screwdriver.

–  Unscrew nuts -1- on lever bracket. –  Remove the hand brake contact switch. –  Detach handbrake lever -2- from mounting plate. Resetting the adjustment mechanism –  Clamp one of the spring-loaded hooks in a vice.

–  Release mechanism with a screwdriver -2-, at the same time pressing back the second spring-loaded hook with another screwdriver. Installation Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence; note the following:

–  Manually unscrew nuts -1- on lever bracket.   Note The rear nut can be accessed through the ashtray opening, and the front one through a cut-out in the bottom of the storage compartment.

–  Align handbrake lever centrally in slot in centre console. –  Tighten nuts on lever bracket -1- to 25 Nm.

–  Install bracket -1- and tighten hex. head bolts -2- to 6 Nm. –  Adjust handbrake → Chapter. –  Install the support foot for the centre console → bodywork, Interior fitting work; Rep. gr.68. –  Fitting the centre console → bodywork, Interior fitting work; Rep. gr.68
