Summary of components of power-assisted steering (TRW) - RHD version
  Note
t  If the front axle is damaged as a result of an accident certain steering components must be replaced → Chapter.
t  No provision is made for repairing on the power-steering gear. In the event of failure determine the cause with the pressure and tightness test as well as by performing self-diagnosis.
t  If there is a fault on the power-steering gear, replace the power-steering gear, unless the fault is in the power-steering sensor.
t  Replace the self-locking nuts and screws.
t  Welding and straightening of the steering components is not allowed.
t  Only use steering gear grease, spare part number → Chapter.
t  Oil types: hydraulic oil → Chapter.
t  Oil volume in the system → Chapter.
1 - 20 Nm + 90°
q   replace after each removal
2 - Steering column universal joint
3 - Clip for pressure line
4 - Power-steering gear
q   removing and installing → Chapter
5 - Assembly carrier
q   with impression (as shown in Figure), only if the front exhaust pipe is fitted below the engine-gearbox assembly carrier
q   with impression (not shown), only if the front exhaust pipe is fitted below the engine-gearbox assembly carrier
6 - Pendulum support
q   The shape of the hinged bracket depends on the gearbox
7 - 50 Nm + 90°
q   replace after each removal
8 - Return-flow line
q   Pipe screw M16x1.5
q   power-assisted steering gear - engine pump aggregate
q   Tightening torque for pipe screw on the power-assisted steering gear: 30 Nm
9 - O-ring
q   replace after each removal
10 - Hollow screw, 35 Nm
q   replace after each removal
q   with non-return valve
q   M14x1.5
11 - Sealing ring
q   replace after each removal
12 - Pressure line
q   power-assisted steering gear - engine pump aggregate
q   Pay attention to installation position relative to subframe → Chapter
q   Tightening torque for pipe screw on the engine pump aggregate: 30 Nm
13 - Steering-knuckle arm (of the wheel-bearing housing)
14 - Self-locking nut, 20 Nm + 90°
q   replace after each removal
15 - 6 Nm
q   for power-assisted steering sensor -G250- with fixed connecting line - Pos. 18

16 - 6 Nm
q   for power-assisted steering sensor -G250- with adapter cable - Pos. 20
