Removing
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Gasket ring extractor -MP1-226-
t  Assembly device -T10053-
t  Guide bushing -T10053/1-
t  Bolt (M16 x 1.5 x 60) -T10053/2-
t  Counterholder -T30004-
–  Remove the right wheelhouse liner → Body Work; Rep. gr.66.
–  Remove V-ribbed belt → Chapter.
–  Removing toothed belt → Chapter.
   
–  Remove crankshaft - toothed belt sprocket. To this end lock the toothed belt gear with counterholder -T30004-.
  Note
When screwing on the counterholder place 2 washers between the timing belt gear and the counterholder.

–  Screw the central screw by hand into the crankshaft up to the stop.
–  Unscrew inner part of the gasket ring extractor -MP1-226- nine turns (approx. 17 mm) out of the outer part and lock with knurled screw.

–  Oil the thread head of the gasket ring extractor -MP1-226-, position and forcefully screw it into the gasket ring as far as possible.
–  Release knurled screw and turn the inner side against the crankshaft until the gasket ring is pulled out.
Install
  Note
t  Only fit PTFE gasket rings. Do not use any elastomer gasket rings with garter spring.
t  The sealing lips of the PTFE gasket ring must neither be oiled nor greased.
–  Remove oil residue on the crankshaft journal with a clean cloth.

–  Insert guide bushing -T10053/1- on the crankshaft journal.
–  Slide gasket ring over the guide bushing onto the crankshaft stub.

–  Push in gasket ring with assembly device -T10053- and bolt (M16 x 1.5 x 60) -T10053/2- up to the stop.
  S13-0266
–  Install crankshaft timing belt sprocket. To this end lock the toothed belt gear with counterholder -T30004-.
  Note
t  When screwing on the counterholder place 2 washers between the timing belt gear and the counterholder.
t  Replace central screw for crankshaft toothed belt sprocket.
–  Tighten new central screw for crankshaft timing belt sprocket to 120 Nm + torque a further 90° (1/4 turn).
–  Installing the timing belt → Chapter.
–  Install the V-ribbed belt → Chapter.
