Replace gasket for metering mechanism
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Bracket -T30097/1 (T10108/1)-
t  Triangle wrench -T10366-
–  Determine the injection rate of the injection pump as follows:
Test conditions
l  Mechanical basic setting of the engine o.k.
l  Toothed belt tension o.k. → Chapter.
l  The coolant temperature must be at least 80 °C.
Work procedure
–  Check the readout of the injection rate in idle → Vehicle diagnostic tester.
Specified value: 3.0 ... 9.0 mg/s
–  Note the readout of the injection rate (measured value block 1, line 3).
–  Remove the injection pump → Chapter.
–  Unscrew the connection fitting for the return flow line and empty the injection pump into a catch pan by holding it with the return flow hole facing down.

–  Install bracket -T30097/1 (T10108/1)- on the injection pump flange and tighten screws -A- to 20 Nm.
–  Fasten the injection pump via the bracket -T30097/1 (T10108/1)- in a vice.

–  Mark the installation position of the metering mechanism with a scribe line -arrow-.
–  Remove the cable from the fuel shut-off valve -N109- incl. bracket.
  N23-10106
–  Unscrew the 3 fixing screws -A-.
–  Unscrew special screw -B- with triangle wrench -T10366-.
–  Carefully swivel the metering mechanism completely to the side.
  Note
Pay attention to corrosion or deposits in the area of the flange.

–  Carefully place the metering mechanism on the injection pump.
  WARNING
Pay attention that the ball pin of the metering adjuster -1- grips properly into the recess of the metering slider -2-.
–  Insert the 3 fixing screws of the metering mechanism and tighten loosely by hand.
  Note
Leave out the special screw.
–  Position the metering mechanism on the scribe marking.
–  Tighten the 3 fixing screws of the metering mechanism crosswise to 9 Nm.
–  Unscrew the 3 fixing screws of the metering mechanism cover and remove the cover.
  Note
Pay attention to corrosion or deposits in the area of the flange.
  N23-10108
–  Carefully lever the old gasket out of its position and replace.
  Note
To do so, pay attention to the correct fitting of the »peg«-arrow-.
–  Position the cover on the metering mechanism, insert the 3 fixing screws and tighten to 9 Nm.
–  Install special screw and tighten with triangle wrench -T10366- to 9 Nm.
–  Install the connection fitting for the return flow line and tighten to 27 Nm.
–  Installing the injection pump → Chapter.
  Note
After the installation, the fuel injection rate must be checked and if necessary set → Chapter.
