Testing the compression
Test conditions
l  Engine oil temperature at least 30 °C
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Compression tester (e. g. -V.A.G 1381 - or -V.A.G 1763-)
t  Spark plug wrench
Test sequence
–  Unplug plug connections from ignition coils with power output stage and connector for injection valves.
–  Remove ignition coils with power output stage from spark plugs and lay to the side.
–  Unscrew the spark plugs with spark plug wrench.
–  Open throttle valve fully.
–  Test compression with compression tester (e.g. -V.A.G 1381 - or -V.A.G 1763-).
  Note
Use of tester → Operating Instructions.
–  Operate starter until the tester no longer indicates a pressure rise.

–  Interrogate fault memory → 1.8 ltr./132 kW Engine, Fuel Injection and Ignition System → Rep. Gr.01.
  Note
If the fault memory is erased, interrogate and generate readiness code → 1.8 ltr./132 kW Engine, Fuel Injection and Ignition System → Rep. Gr.01.
