Check fuel temperature sender G81 > < Inspecting the injection-timing range
Testing commencement of injection valve N108
Testing commencement of injection valve -N108-
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Handheld multimeter (e.g. -VAG 1526 A-)
t  Measuring tool set (e.g. -VAG 1594 A-)
t  Test box -VAG 1598/22- or -VAG 1598/31 -
Test conditions
l  Fuses No. 29 and 34 o.k.
Test sequence
   
–  Disconnect the plug connection -arrow- from the injection pump.
–  Connect multimeter onto contacts 9 and 10 of the connector holder -2- to measure the resistance.
Specified value: 12...20 Ω
If the specified value is not reached:
–  Replace injection valve -N108- → Chapter.
If the specified value is reached:
–  Connect the multimeter for voltage measurement to contact 10 of the connector -1- and to engine mass.
–  Switch on ignition.
Specified value: battery voltage
If the specified value is not reached:
–  Connect test box -V.A.G 1598/22- or -V.A.G 1598/31- at wiring loom to engine control unit → Chapter.

–  Test the cable connections for short circuit to positive or negative and for interruption according to the current flow diagram (plug -1-) → Current flow diagrams and Fitting locations.
–  If necessary eliminate wire interruption or short-circuit.
If the lines are not found to be faulty:
–  Replacing engine control unit -J248- → Chapter.
