Timing belt - Summary of components
1 - Top toothed belt guard
q   when installing, carefully insert into the middle toothed belt guard
2 - 100 Nm
q   to release and tighten use the counterholder -T10051-
3 - 20 Nm + torque a further 45° (1/8 turn)
4 - Camshaft sprocket
q   Mark installation position
5 - Hub
q   with sensor rotor for Hall sensor - G40-
q   to release and tighten use the counterholder -T10051-
q   to remove the extractor -T10052- use
q   removing and installing → Chapter
6 - 10 Nm
q   insert using locking agent -D 000 600 A2-
7 - Rear timing belt guard
q   to remove, unscrew coolant pump
q   When installing carefully insert into the front sealing flange
8 - 25 Nm
9 - Rubber grommet
q   replace if damaged
10 - 20 Nm + torque a further 45° (1/8 turn)
11 - Tensioning pulley
q   The eccentric of the new version has an additional hole for 6 mm hexagon socket wrench → Fig.
12 - 22 Nm
13 - Guide pulley
14 - Coolant pump
q   removing and installing → Chapter
15 - Crankshaft toothed belt sprocket
q   there must not be any oil present on contact surface between timing belt sprocket and the crankshaft
q   can be installed only in one position
16 - 120 Nm + torque a further 90° (1/4 turn)
q   replace
q   do not oil
q   to release and tighten use the counterholder -T30004 (3415)-
17 - 15 Nm
18 - Bottom toothed belt guard
q   with notch, which marks the TDC for cylinder 1
19 - Belt pulley/vibration dampener
q   pay attention to Part No.
q   Assembly only possible in one position - holes offset
q   with notch, which marks the TDC for cylinder 1
q   Set TDC for cylinder 1 → Fig.
20 - 10 Nm + torque a further 90° (1/4 turn)
q   replace
21 - Cover
22 - Timing belt
q   mark the direction of rotation with chalk or a felt-tip pen before removing
q   check for wear
q   removing and installing (setting the timing) → Chapter
23 - Middle toothed belt guard
q   with a clearly visible arrow which points to the notch, which marks the TDC for cylinder 1 on the bottom toothed belt guard

   
Tensioning pulley
The additional hole in the eccentric of the tensioning pulley -arrow- for offset screwdriver -T10264- (if necessary 6 mm hexagon socket wrench).
  Note
The tensioning pulley of the new version can be adjusted with the special two-hole nut turner , e. g.-T10020-, or using a commercial 6 mm hexagon socket wrench.

Adjust TDC of cylinder 1 with the belt pulley fitted
Bring the TDC marking for cylinder 1 to belt pulley/vibration damper into alignment with the TDC marking for cylinder 1 to bottom toothed belt guard -arrow-.
  Note
When adjusting, turn engine to TDC of cylinder 1 in direction of rotation of engine.
