Removing and installing the exhaust manifold on the right with the front exhaust pipe > < Removing and installing pre-exhaust pipe with main catalytic converter

Removing and installing the left exhaust manifold with front pipe

Removing and installing the exhaust manifold on the left with the front exhaust pipe
Removing and installing the exhaust manifold on the left with the front exhaust pipe
Removing
–  Remove engine cover.
–  Put lock carrier in service position → Body Work; Rep. Gr.50.
–  Remove AC compressor → Heating, Air Conditioning; Rep. Gr.87.
   
–  Remove the heat protection plate above the exhaust turbocharger -arrows-.
–  Remove pre-catalytic converter and pre-exhaust pipe with catalytic converter.

–  Unscrew the nuts -arrows- of the exhaust manifold (additionally from below).
–  Unscrew the coolant expansion bottle (coolant hoses remain attached).

–  Unscrew exhaust pipe from converter -arrows- (accessible from above).
–  Remove the exhaust manifold with the exhaust pipe from the top.
–  Separate the exhaust manifold and the exhaust pipe if necessary.
Install
Installation is performed in the reverse order, pay attention to the following points:
–  Note the installed position of the gaskets for the exhaust manifold:
t  The aluminium side points to the cylinder head.
Tightening torques
  A26-0210
ComponentTightening torque
Exhaust manifold to cylinder head22 Nm
Exhaust pipe on the exhaust manifold22 Nm
Exhaust pipe on the converter22 Nm
Cross member for the floor of the vehicle body20 Nm
