Removing and installing the dash panel
Removing and installing the dash panel
Removing:
  WARNING
Disconnect battery earth strap → Electrical System; Rep. gr.27.
–  Remove the steering wheel → Chapter.
–  Remove door trim panels from the top of pillars A → Chapter.
   
–  Remove the top steering column trim -1- and the cover of the dash panel -2- e.g. with a disassembly wedge -3409-.

–  Remove screws -2- and remove bottom steering column trim -1-.

–  Removing side cover for left dash panel -1-.
–  Removing light switch → Electrical System; Rep. gr.96.

–  Unclip surround of centre console -1-.

–  Unclip decorative strips -1- and -2-.
–  Removing potentiometer for headlight range control → Electrical System; Rep. gr.96.
–  Removing dash panel insert → Electrical System; Rep. gr.90.

–  Unclip cover -1-.
–  Remove screws -3- and remove bottom part of dash panel -2-.
  Note
Disconnect the diagnostic plug connection when removing the bottom part of the dash panel.
–  Removing the centre console → Chapter.

–  Remove the screws -4- and take out the heater control -3- → Heating, Air Conditioning; Rep. gr.80, or the air conditioning actuator → Heating, Air Conditioning; Rep. gr.87.
–  Unclip the caps and the switches -5- and disconnect the plug connections.
–  Remove the middle storage compartment -2- and the cover -1- or the radio → Electrical System; Rep. gr.91.

–  Unclip and remove the warning light switch -1- → Electrical System; Rep. gr.96 and the warning light for front passenger airbag deactivation -2-.

–  Removing side cover for right dash panel -1-.
–  Remove the glove compartment on front passenger's side → Chapter.

–  Remove the screws -1- and take out the top glove compartment -2- in the dash panel.
–  Remove sunlight penetration photosensor → Electrical System; Rep. gr.96.
–  Remove the flow vent → Heating, Air Conditioning; Rep. gr.80 and disconnect the plugs for lateral footwell vent temperature senders.
  Note
The dash panel is removed together with the airbag unit on the front passenger side.
  DANGER!
Safety regulations should be observed when handling the airbag units → Chapter.

–  Unscrew fixing screws -2- and -3-.
–  Unhook the dash panel -1- from the hook -4- and remove it.
1 - Dash panel
2 - 2 Nm
3 - 9 Nm
4 - Hook

Installing:
–  Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
  WARNING
Nobody should be in the vehicle when the battery is being connected.
Pay attention to the sequence when connecting the battery → Electrical System; Rep. gr.27.
  Note
If the airbag warning light -K75- signals a fault after assembly, erase the fault memory and interrogate again → Vehicle diagnostic tester.
