Evaporator Core: Service and Repair
Front Evaporator & Expansion Valve

1.

Disconnect battery ground cable and discharge system refrigerant.

2.

Disconnect refrigerant lines at front cooling unit, capping all openings.

3.

Remove grommets from inlet and outlet fittings.

4.

Remove glovebox assembly, junction block, air duct band and the connectors.

5.

Remove nuts, screws and bolt securing cooling unit, then remove unit.

6.

Remove thermistor attaching screw and the thermistor.

7.

Remove four screws and seven clamps securing lower case and remove lower case.

8.

Remove upper case from evaporator.

9.

Disconnect liquid line tube from inlet fitting of expansion valve.

10.

Remove heat protective insulator from outlet tube.

11.

Disconnect expansion valve from evaporator inlet fitting.

12.

Reverse procedure to install, then evacuate and discharge system and check for leaks. If evaporator is replaced, add 1.4.-1.7 oz. of new refrigerant
oil to compressor.
