Thermostat Housing, Remove and Install
 Remove
Remove air cleaner housing with air intake hose and hot film
mass air flow meter – see illustration "Air Ducts".
Remove upper part of toothed belt cover – see operation
"Toothed Belt Cover – Upper Part, Remove and Install".
For version with AC: Remove ribbed V-belts – see operation
"Ribbed V-belts, Remove and Install".
Remove V-belt – see operation "V-belt, Remove and
Install".
Remove lower part of toothed belt cover – see operation
"Toothed Belt Cover – Lower Part, Remove and Install".
Remove toothed belt – see operation "Toothed Belt, Remove
and Install".
Remove toothed belt tension roller – see operation
"Toothed Belt Tension Roller, Remove and Install".
Remove toothed belt guide roller – see operation "Toothed
Belt Guide Roller, Remove and Install".
Rear toothed belt cover – see operation "Toothed Belt
Cover – Rear, Remove and Install".
Open coolant drain bolt – collect escaping coolant.

Detach coolant hoses (2) and (4) from thermostat housing and
detach coolant hose (3) from coolant outlet port.
Disconnect wiring harness plug (1) from coolant temperature
sensor.
Remove thermostat housing (5) from cylinder head detach from
coolant pipe.

Install
When replacing the thermostat housing – re-install
attaching parts.
Push new seal rings onto coolant pipe – coat seal rings
lightly with silicon grease (white).
Coat new seal ring with silicone grease (white) and insert in
cylinder head.
Push thermostat housing onto coolant pipe and attach to cylinder
head – tightening torque – 15 Nm / 11 lbf. ft.
Ensure correct seating of thermostat housing and coolant pipe.
Connect wiring harness plug to coolant temperature sensor. Attach
coolant hoses.
Install rear toothed belt cover – see operation "Toothed
Belt Cover – Rear, Remove and Install".
Install toothed belt – see operation "Toothed Belt, Remove
and Install".
Install lower part of toothed belt cover – see operation
"Toothed Belt Cover – Lower Part, Remove and Install".
Install V-belt – see operation "V-belt, Remove and
Install".
For version with AC: Install ribbed V-belt – see operation
"Ribbed V-belt, Remove and Install".
Install upper part of toothed belt cover – see operation
"Toothed Belt Cover – Upper Part, Remove and Install".
Install air cleaner housing with air intake hose and hot film
mass air flow meter – see illustration "Air Ducts".
Inspect
Charge and bleed cooling system – see operation "Cooling
System, Charge and Bleed" and "Cooling System, Check for
Leaks".
