Injector Nozzle, Check > < Injector Nozzle, Remove and Install Injection System, Remove and Install

Injector Nozzle, Disassemble and Assemble

  Remove

Remove injector nozzle – see operation "Injector Nozzle, Remove and Install".

  Disassemble

Clamp nozzle holder (1) in vice. Unscrew union nut (8).

Remove nozzle body (7), nozzle needle (6), spacer washer (5), pressure pin (4), thrust spring (3) and thrust adjustment washer (2) – note installation position of components.

Caution

Ensure absolute cleanliness.

Injector nozzle components are not interchangeable – note arrangement.

  Clean

Use cleaning unit. Clean all injector nozzle components in clean diesel fuel. Do not use metallic objects or emery paper to remove dirt. Remove soot from nozzle needle with wooden spatula soaked in diesel fuel.

Do not touch ground nozzle needle surfaces with hand.

  Inspect

Cleaned nozzle needle must move freely in the nozzle body and slide into the nozzle under its own weight.

Check nozzle needle and nozzle body for damage and wear.

Caution

Do not touch the stem of the nozzle needle. Do not confuse nozzle bodies with nozzle needles.

  Assemble

Insert thrust adjustment washer (2), thrust spring (3), pressure pin (4), spacer washer (5), nozzle needle (6) and nozzle body (7) into nozzle holder (1) – note installation position of components.

Attach union nut (8) to nozzle holder (1) – tightening torque – 80 Nm / 59 lbf. ft.

  Install

Install injector nozzle – see operation "Injector Nozzle, Remove and Install".
