Squeaking and creaking noises in area of
luggage compartment / rear parcel shelf / C-pillar. |
Cause: |
Bracket for rear parcel shelf on C-pillar
worn out / excentric bolt on C-pillar scrapes on kinematics of
folding roof in luggage compartment. |
Production: |
As of MY 2010 the excentric bolts will be
not more installed in production. |
Remedy:
In case of customer complaint the following working procedures
have to be carried out:
- The bracket for the rear parcel shelf on C-pillar must be
replaced by a repair-kit
- The excentrics on C-pillar must be removed and disposed
as they are only a fit-up aid in production.

Working procedure:
I. Bracket rear parcel shelf on C-pillar worn out
1. Bring the folding roof in service position (picture I)
- Open folding roof to half
- Install special-tool BO-47651-200 (1)
- Secure roof with enclosed tension belt (2).
2. Replacement bracket for rear parcel shelf on C-pillar (picture II)
- Unscrew 1x bolt (1)
- Remove bracket rear parcel shelf (2)
- Install new bracket
- Install 1x bolt and tighten 8 Nm.
Note:
Carry out procedure on both sides.
3. Close folding roof
- Remove tension belt
- Remove special tool BO-47651-200
- Close folding roof.
II. Excentric on C-pillar scrapes on kinematics of folding
roof
1. Remove excentrics (picture III)
- Open luggage compartment lid
- Unscrew tightening bolt (1) for excentric (2)
- Remove and discard tightening bolt and excentric
- Close luggage compartment lid.
Note:
Carry out procedure on both sides.
