Replace carpet - complete - L70

  Remove

1.   Disconnect battery
2.   Wait 1 minute for airbag to deactivate
3.   Place seats in the forward-most position
4.   Detach belt securing panel - driver's side
•   Unclip panel upwards (1)
5.   Detach belt securing panel - passenger side
•   Unclip panel upwards (1)
6.   Attach seat belt at front seat - driver's side
•   Unscrew bolt (2)
7.   Attach seat belt at front seat - passenger's side
•   Unscrew bolt (2)

8.   Detach driver's side front seat
•   Unscrew 2x bolt (1)
9.   Detach passenger side front seat
•   Unscrew 2x bolt (1)
10.   Remove driver's side front seat
•   Remove from front guide
•   Release and disconnect compact connector
11.   Remove passenger's side front seat
•   Remove from front guide
•   Release and disconnect compact connector

12.   Detach footwell instrument panel padding left and right
•   Unscrew 2x screws on driver's side and remove footwell panelling from bracket
•   Unscrew 2x screws on passenger's side and remove footwell panelling from bracket

13.   Detach central console
14.   Remove sill inner panelling - both sides
•   Unclip 3x clips
•   Remove from guide

15.   Remove airbag control unit
•   Unscrew 3x nuts (1) and remove control unit
•   Release 2x wiring harness plugs and disconnect

16.   Remove bracket from diagnostics plug (1)
•   Unclip clip
•   Unscrew 3 nuts (2)
•   Remove bracket

17.   Loosen cable duct (1)
•   Detach earthing strap
– Unscrew nut (3)
•   Disconnect 2x wiring harness plugs (2)

18.   Remove instrument panel padding bracket - both sides
•   Unscrew 6x bolt

19.   Loosen shift cable
•   Unclip ball head (1)
•   Remove retaining clip (2)
20.   Open up wiring harness
•   Separate gear stick wiring harness plug (3)
•   Separate hand brake wiring harness plug (4)
– Detach cable tie

21.   Remove automatic gearbox control unit LUREF_1.gif

22.   Remove carpet
•   Open quick release fastener (1)
•   Unclip wiring harness clip (2)

  Install

23.   Install carpet - completely
•   Insert carpet
•   Close quick release fastener
•   Attach wiring harness clip
24.   Install automatic gearbox control unit LUREF_1.gif
25.   Fasten shift cable
•   Place retaining clip
•   Clip in ball head
26.   Attach wiring harness
•   Connect hand brake wiring harness plug
– Attach cable ties
•   Connect gear shift wiring harness plug
27.   Attach instrument panel padding bracket - both sides
•   Tighten 6x bolts
28.   Fasten cable duct
•   Connect 2x wiring harness plugs
•   Attach earthing strap
– Tighten nut
29.   Install diagnostics plug bracket
•   Install bracket
•   Tighten 3x nut
•   Clip in clip
30.   Install airbag control unit
•   Connect and lock 2x wiring harness plug
•   Tighten 3x nuts 10 Nm
31.   Install sill inner panelling
•   Insert into guide
•   Clip in 3x clips
32.   Install centre console
33.   Attach footwell instrument panel padding left and right
•   Tighten 2x bolts driver's side
•   Tighten 2x bolts passenger's side
34.   Install sill strip completely - both sides
•   Clip in 5x clips
35.   Insert driver's side front seat
•   Connect and latch compact connector
•   Insert seat in front guide
36.   Fasten driver's side front seat
•   Tighten 2x bolt 35 Nm
Note:   Use screw locking compound
37.   Attach seat belt driver's side
•   Tighten bolt 20 Nm
Note:   Use screw locking compound
38.   Insert driver's side front seat panel
•   Place front seat in original position
39.   Insert front seat - passenger side
•   Connect and latch compact connector
•   Insert seat in front guide
40.   Fasten passenger side - front seat
•   Tighten 2x bolt 35 Nm
Note:   Use screw locking compound
41.   Attach seat belt on passenger's side
•   Tighten bolt 20 Nm
Note:   Use screw locking compound
42.   Insert passenger's side front seat panel
•   Place front seat in original position
43.   Connect battery
44.   Program volatile memories
