Replace fan motor (without air conditioning) > < Fan Motor, Replace

Fan motor, Replace (Z 20 LEH)

  Remove

1.   Open bonnet
2.   Disconnect battery
•   Detach ground connection from ground terminal
– Slacken nut
3.   Raise vehicle by its full height
4.   Detach fan wiring harness from fan housing
•   Disconnect wiring harness plug (1)
•   Undo cable tie

5.   Lower vehicle by its full height
6.   Remove charge air hose, intercooler to charge air pipe
•   Release 2x clamps (1,2)

7.   Detach upper radiator hose (1) from fan housing
•   Remove upper radiator hose from bracket (2)
•   Remove bracket
– Turn bracket 90°

8.   Detach fan housing from radiator and intercooler
•   Unscrew 2x bolts (1)
•   Unclick fan housing from intercooler
– Unclip clip (2)

9.   Remove fan housing
10.   Remove fan motor out of fan housing
•   Detach fan motor wiring harness from fan housing
– Unscrew bolt (3), unclip 2x clips (2)
•   Unscrew 3x bolts (1)

  Install

11.   Install fan motor in fan housing
•   Tighten 3x bolts
•   Attach fan motor wiring harness to fan housing
– Tighten bolt, clip in 2x clips
12.   Insert fan housing
•   Install bracket
•   Clip coolant hose into bracket
13.   Attach fan housing to radiator
•   Tighten 2x bolts
•   Attach clip
14.   Fit charge air hose between charge air pipe and intercooler
•   Tighten 2x clamps
15.   Raise vehicle by its full height
16.   Attach fan wiring harness to fan housing
•   Fix wiring harness plug
•   Attach cable ties
17.   Lower vehicle by its full height
18.   Connect battery
•   Attach ground connection to ground terminal
– Tighten nut
19.   Programme transient memory
20.   Close bonnet
