Coolant flange, remove and install

Disconnect battery

Detach earth connection from earth terminal

Raise vehicle by its full height
|

Place collecting basin underneath.

Drain coolant
| • |
Place collecting basin underneath.
|

Attach suitable hose to drain connection (2)
|
| • |
Open coolant drain screw (1)
|
| • |
Close coolant drain screw
|
|
|
|
| 6. |
Lower vehicle by its full height
|
| 7. |
Detach positive cable from positive clamp
|
| 8. |
Remove battery
| • |
Detach positive connection from positive terminal
|
|
| 9. |
Remove battery support (1)
| • |
Unclip 2x coolant hose (3)
|
| • |
Detach wiring harness (4) from battery support
|
|
|
|
| 10. |
Detach upper radiator hose from coolant flange
|
| 11. |
Remove coolant pipe (1) between thermostat housing and oil
filter housing
Note: The graphics show
the coolant pipe with the exhaust manifold detached for a clearer
view

Draw out of oil filter housing
|

|

Disconnect thermostat wiring harness plug (7)
|
| 13. |
Disconnect wiring harness plug for coolant temperature sensor
(4)

| 14. |
Detach wiring harness bracket (1)
|
| 15. |
Detach 2x coolant hoses (5)
|
| 16. |
Detach coolant supply line for preheating of throttle valve
module (3)

Disconnect quick-release fitting
|
|
| 17. |
Remove coolant flange
|
|
|
Install
| 18. |
Clean sealing surface
|
| 19. |
Fit coolant flange
| • |
Screw in 4x bolt evenly until the housing is in contact with
the cylinder head
|
Important: It is essential to
comply with the specified tightening sequence - risk of
fracture
|
| • |
Tighten 4x bolt (1), (2), (3) and (4) 8
Nm
|
|
|
|
| 20. |
Attach coolant pipe between thermostat housing and oil filter
housing
| • |
Push into oil filter housing
|
|
| 21. |
Attach coolant supply line for preheating of throttle valve
module
| • |
Connect quick release fitting
|
|
| 22. |
Attach 3x coolant hose to thermostat housing
|
| 23. |
Attach wiring harness bracket to thermostat housing
|
| 24. |
Connect coolant temperature sensor wiring harness plug
|
| 25. |
Connect thermostat wiring harness plug
|
| 26. |
Install battery holder
| • |
Clip on coolant hose bracket
|
| • |
Clip on 2x wiring harness
|
|
| 27. |
Install battery
| • |
Install battery bracket
|
| • |
Attach positive connection to positive terminal
|
|
| 28. |
Attach positive cable to positive terminal
|
| 29. |
Connect battery
| • |
Attach ground connection to ground terminal
|
|
| 30. |
Fill and bleed cooling system 
|

Program volatile memories
