Camshaft Adjuster, Replace

1.   Remove cylinder head cover
2.   Remove toothed belt
3.   Insert KM-6628-A (1) into camshaft
•   Turn camshaft by hexagon until groove on end of camshafts is horizontal (arrows)

4.   Raise vehicle by its full height
5.   Remove KM-6625
•   Detach screwed connection
6.   Set engine to 60° (measurement l) before TDC
•   Set crankshaft in direction of engine rotation to 60° (measurement l) before TDC

7.   Lower vehicle by its full height
8.   Remove toothed belt tensioner (1)
•   Unscrew bolt (2)

9.   Place collecting basin underneath.
10.   Remove KM-6340
11.   Unscrew closure bolt (2) of intake camshaft adjuster (1) or closure bolt (4) of exhaust camshaft adjuster (3)

12.   Detach intake camshaft adjuster (1) or exhaust camshaft adjuster (3)
•   Counterhold against hexagon of corresponding camshaft with open-ended wrench
Note:   Use a second person
•   Unscrew bolt (2) or (4)
Object Number: 9007887 Size: DEFAULT


  Install

13.   Attach intake camshaft adjuster or exhaust camshaft adjuster
Note:   Do not tighten bolt
•   Screw in new bolt
14.   Insert KM-6340 in camshaft adjuster
•   Insert KM-6340-Left (1) and KM-6340-Right (2) in the camshaft adjuster as shown
Important:   The spot-type marking (4) on the intake camshaft adjuster does not correspond to the groove of KM-6340-Left during this process but must be somewhat above as shown
– The spot type marking (3) on the exhaust camshaft adjuster must correspond to the groove on KM-6340-Right

15.   Fasten intake camshaft adjuster or exhaust camshaft adjuster
•   Tighten new bolt 65 Nm + 120° + 15°
•   Counterhold at camshaft hexagon
Note:   Use a second person
16.   Tighten closure bolt 30 Nm
•   Replace seal ring
17.   Clean the thread
Object Number: 8125648 Size: DEFAULT

18.   Intake toothed belt tensioner
•   Insert toothed belt tension roller
– Use new bolt
– Free leg of spring (1) of the toothed belt tension roller must engage in the cut-out (arrow) of the pump module
•   Tighten bolt 20 Nm + 120° + 15°

19.   Remove KM-6628-A
20.   Raise vehicle by its full height
21.   Set crankshaft to cylinder 1 TDC of combustion stroke
•   Marking, toothed belt drive gear and oil pump housing must align
22.   Block crankshaft.
•   Insert KM-6625
– Install bolted connection
23.   Lower vehicle by its full height
24.   Install toothed belt
25.   Install cylinder head cover LUREF_1.gif
