Work Order Description

T001

Check: Short to Voltage of Signal Circuit
  • Ignition OFF
  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    B65 Sensor - Knock Control
  • Ignition ON
  • Measure voltage between the following terminals:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 10 (XC3)
    &
    Ground

less than 0.3 V
Voltage Measurement Current Value: V
Yes: No:
T002

Check: Short to Voltage of Signal Circuit
  • Measure voltage between the following terminals:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 27 (XC3)
    &
    Ground

less than 0.3 V

Yes: No:
T003

Check: Short to Ground of Signal Circuit
  • Ignition OFF
  • Measure resistance between the following terminals:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 10 (XC3)
    &
    Ground

greater than 500 kOhm
Resistance Measurement Current Value: kOhm

Check: Short to Ground of Signal Circuit
  • Measure resistance between the following terminals:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 27 (XC3)
    &
    Ground

greater than 500 kOhm
Resistance Measurement Current Value: kOhm
Yes: No:

Check: Interruption of Signal Circuit
  • Measure resistance between the following terminals:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 10 (XC3)
    &
    B65 Sensor - Knock Control
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 1

less than 5 Ohm

  • Measure resistance between the following terminals:

Cause Of Fault
E001 Result: Defective Component
  • Defective component:
    B65 Sensor - Knock Control
    or
    A84 Control Unit - Engine

Important:

Reset the concerned control unit with the diagnostic tester before replacing it. In order to do that, call up the "RESET" function from the PROGRAMMING menu of the current system on the diagnostic tester.

Note:

The replacement of the components must be done in the listed order.

The system must be checked for proper operation after every replacement.
E002 Result: Mechanical Fault
  • Repair the concerned circuit/component.
E003 Result: Short Circuit in Wiring Harness
  • Short circuit in wiring harness between:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 10 (XC3)
    &
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 27 (XC3)
E004 Result: Interruption
  • Circuit interruption between:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 27 (XC3)
    &
    B65 Sensor - Knock Control
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 2
E005 Result: Interruption
  • Circuit interruption between:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 10 (XC3)
    &
    B65 Sensor - Knock Control
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 1
E006 Result: Short to Ground
  • Short circuit to ground between:
