Result

Cause Of Fault

E001 Result: Mechanical/Hydraulic Fault in Component
  • Defective component:
    Y158 Thermostat, Map-Controlled

Important:

If shavings in the valve were the cause of the fault, the oil duct must be cleaned as far as possible.

Shavings inside the oil duct may cause the trouble code to be set again.

E002 Result: Defective Component
  • Defective component:
    Y158 Thermostat, Map-Controlled
    or
    A84 Control Unit - Engine

Important:

Reset the concerned control unit with the diagnostic tester before replacing it. In order to do that, call up the "RESET" function from the PROGRAMMING menu of the current system on the diagnostic tester.

Note:

The replacement of the components must be done in the listed order.

The system must be checked for proper operation after every replacement.

E003 Result: Defective Component
  • Defective component:
    Y158 Thermostat, Map-Controlled
E004 Result: Interruption
  • Circuit interruption between:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 4 (XC3)
    &
    Y158 Thermostat, Map-Controlled
Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 1
E005 Result: Short to Ground
  • Short circuit to ground between:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 4 (XC3)
    &
    Y158 Thermostat, Map-Controlled
Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 1
E006 Result: Short to Voltage
  • Short circuit to voltage between:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 4 (XC3)
    &
    Y158 Thermostat, Map-Controlled
Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 1
E007 Result: Interruption
  • Circuit interruption between:
    X125 Underhood Electronic Module
Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 29 (XE3)
    &
    Y158 Thermostat, Map-Controlled
Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 2

or

  • Defective component:
    X125 Underhood Electronic Module

Important:

Reset the concerned control unit with the diagnostic tester before replacing it. In order to do that, call up the "RESET" function from the PROGRAMMING menu of the current system on the diagnostic tester.

E008 Result: Defective Component
  • Repair or replace defective component
