Operating Unit, Replace

P & A Department supply this unit as an assembly but without crank and glass panel. Operating cables are basically adjusted.

Remove

Disconnect ground cable from battery (see Safety Notes page V).

Remove glass panel.

Remove headlining. Loosen handles, plugs, pillar covers, door seals and roof trim panels.

Remove headlining according to Model over opened tailgate or opened door.

According to equipment, remove grid or partition.

Pull off water drain hoses from 4 pipe connections of operating unit.

Note:    All drain hoses are pushed on to the pipe connections without cement.

Unscrew operating unit supports 1 from roof frame.

Unscrew operating unit from roof frame - 14 screws (2 mechanics required).

Remove operating unit from passenger compartment through open tailgate/door opening.

Unscrew supports 2 from operating unit (4 screws).

Install

Screw rear supports to operating unit (4 screws M 5 x 10 with special threads).

Lift operating unit into passenger compartment and insert front and centre attaching bolts into locations in roof frame (2 mechanics required).

Hold operating unit at front attaching bolt using Remover/ Installer KM-593 (2 mechanics required).

Bolt operating unit to insert frame - 14 bolts (M 5 x 10 with special threads).

Important:  Tighten bolts to 5 Nm/3.7 lbf. ft.

Push 4 water drain hoses on to pipe connections of operating unit. Do not use cement!

Install glass panel - see operation "Glass Panel, Replace".

Check for correct functioning Install headlining.

Install attaching parts.

Connect battery ground cable.

Operating Cables, Both, Replace

Always replace the cables in pairs.

Remove

Remove operating unit - see operation "Operating Unit, Replace".

Remove gutter - see operation "Gutter, Replace".

Unscrew crank drive from operating unit.

Pull plugs from ends of roof guides.

Pull cables with guide part assembly from continuous roof guide.

Remove retaining ring from bolt and remove cables with guides from slide block guides.

Install

Insert cables with guides in guide groove of roof guide.

Attach slide block guides to cable guides.

Insert slide block guides in cable guides and push in guide bolt from inside outwards. Fix retaining ring to outside end of guide bolt.

Insert slide blocks in lower groove of continuous roof guide.

Push guide part assembly into roof guide until lever catches in roof guide recess.

Push cable guide in until centre of guide bolt aligns with adjustment notch.

Place plugs on ends of roof guides.

Adjust crank drive - see operation "Crank Drive, Adjust" - and install.

Install gutter - see operation "Gutter, Replace".

Install operating unit - see operation "Operating Unit, Replace".
