Cable for Selector Lever Actuation, Remove and Install - up to MY '96 > < Fluid Pump Assembly - Survey Survey

 

Selector Actuation Bowden Cable, Adjust  

Adjustment of the selector actuation Bowden cable up to MY '96.  

Object Number: 616196  Size: DEFAULT  Inspect   

Put selector lever consecutively into positions "P, R, N, D, 3, 2, 1". Lift pull-knob up to first or second stop.  

The actuation lever on transmission must engage at each of the following: "P" (front position), "R, N, D, 3, 2, 1".

If actuation lever does not engage:  

Object Number: 616191  Size: DEFAULT  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove gearshift panel cover. Unclip by pressing area marked with arrows and twist, so that the opening is free.

Object Number: 616198  Size: DEFAULT  Adjust   

Guide a socket wrench through aperture (illus. I) and release cable clamp bolt (1). Selector actuation Bowden cable (illus. II, centre console removed).  

Object Number: 616199  Size: DEFAULT  Tighten (Torque)   

Cable clamping bolt - 6 Nm / 4 lbf. ft. Check as described above, see also operation "Selector Lever Position Switch, Check".  

Object Number: 616192  Size: DEFAULT  Install, Connect   

Clip gearshift panel cover to centre console.  

Adjustment of selector actuation Bowden cable as of MY '96.  

Adjustment of the Bowden cable is no longer required as a result of the new fastening on the transmission and selector lever (illus. III). The Bowden cable retarder on the transmission is secured with a retaining clip (arrow).
