Adjustment Regulations for Differential Tapered Roller Bearing (F 10/F 15)

Transmission casing with manual transmission and differential removed.

1. Bearing as new part

When replacing the tapered roller bearings, these must be pre-tensioned by screwing in bearing ring until a slip torque of 150 to 210 Ncm is measured at a rotational speed of 1 rev/sec. To measure the slip torque, Tool KM-455-A inserted in the differential housing is used in conjunction with Torsiometer MKM-536-A.

2. Run-in bearing: original parts reinstalled.

Use Tool KM-455-A in conjunction with Torsiometer MKM-536-A to maintain a slip torque of between 60 and 100 Ncm when replacing bearing ring, differential housing or transmission housing.

3. Re-adjusting with marking (without end play)

When re-using removed parts such as tapered roller bearing, bearing ring, bearing flange, differential housing and transmission housing, pretension the tapered roller bearing by screwing in bearing rings to the same position as before removal (marking).

With bearing clearance.

If axial play of the tapered roller bearing has been determined in advance when the differential was removed, then maintain a slip torque of 60 to 100 Ncm.

4)Bearing as new part

Remove end shield with transmission gearset from transmission housing. When replacing the tapered roller bearing, pretension these by screwing in bearing rings until a slip torque of 150 - 210 Ncm is measured at a rotational speed of 1 rev/sec.

5. Run-in bearing: original parts reinstalled.

When replacing the bearing ring, differential housing or transmission casing, first the total slip torque (with transmission wheel set) must be measured. (Bearing ring position on mark), then adjust to the measured slip torque plus 80 Ncm.

6. Re-adjusting with marking (without end play)

When re-using removed parts, such as tapered roller bearing, bearing ring, differential housing and transmission casing, the tapered roller bearing is pre-tensioned by screwing in the bearing ring to the same position as before removal (mark).

With end play

If axial play of the tapered roller bearing was determined when the differential was removed, then first the total slip torque (with transmission wheel set) must be measured, then adjust to the measured slip torque plus 80 Ncm.
