J600500 Radiator, Replace (Z 18 XE, with Air Conditioning, LHD)

  Remove

1.   Open bonnet 2.   Disconnect battery Note:   In vehicles from model year 04 onwards with ESP - the steering angle sensor loses its basic adjustment each time the battery is disconnected and must be recalibrated. •   Detach ground cable 3.   Release upper front panelling •   Unscrew 3 bolts (1) 4.   Raise vehicle

5.   Remove air ducts •   Unscrew 6 bolts (arrows)

6.   Release lower front panelling •   Disconnect wiring harness connector. •   Remove 3x clips (2) •   Unscrew 4x bolt (1) •   Unscrew 2x nut (3) 7.   Detach front panelling Note:   Second person required •   Remove and close the hose – high-pressure – Headlamp washer system

8.   Drain coolant •   Place collecting basin underneath. •   Open drain bolt (arrow) 9.   Remove horn •   Disconnect wiring harness connector. •   Unscrew 2 bolts 10.   Detach lower radiator hose from radiator 11.   Lower vehicle

12.   Release lower radiator bracket •   Unscrew 2x rear bolts (1) •   Loosen 2x front bolts (2)

13.   Remove intake pipe •   Remove bolt (arrow) •   Pull intake pipe out of bracket 14.   Remove upper radiator hose 15.   Detach overflow hose from radiator

16.   Remove fan housing •   Disconnect wiring harness plug for auxiliary fan motor •   Unscrew 2 bolts (1) •   Carefully pull fan housing upwards

17.   Detach condenser Note:   The air conditioning system remains sealed •   Unscrew 2 bolts (arrows) •   Remove condenser from bracket •   Suspend condenser

18.   Remove upper radiator bracket (1) •   Unscrew 2 bolts (2) 19.   Remove radiator Note:   Second person required •   Remove radiator downwards carefully – Swing radiator bracket aside

  Install

24.   Fasten condenser •   Release condenser •   Insert in bracket •   Tighten 2 bolts 25.   Attach fan housing •   Insert in bracket – Position fan housing on radiator at top •   Screw in bolts •   Connect wiring harness plug for auxiliary fan motor
