Thermostat Housing, Remove and Install

  Remove

1.   Open bonnet
2.   Drain coolant
•   Place collecting basin underneath.
•   Open drain bolt

3.   Remove fuel filter housing (2)
•   Disconnect 4 lines (1) and (4)
– Use KM-796-A
•   Disconnect 2 wiring harness plugs
– Housing cover (3)
– Housing bottom (arrow)
•   Close 4 fuel lines

4.   Loosen coolant compensation tank
•   Unclip coolant compensation tank
5.   Remove crash box
•   Unscrew nut
•   Remove nut
6.   Remove charge air pipe (1)
•   Release clamp
•   Unscrew 4 bolts (arrows)

7.   Remove thermostat housing (1)
•   Disconnect coolant temperature sensor wiring harness plug
•   Detach 4 coolant hoses
– Release 4x clamp
•   Unscrew 2 bolts
•   Unclip wiring harness

8.   Clean sealing surfaces

  Install

9.   Install thermostat housing
•   Tighten 2x bolts 25 Nm
•   Attach 4 coolant hoses
– Secure 4 clamps
– Attach wiring harness
•   Connect coolant temperature sensor wiring harness plug
10.   Install charge air pipe
•   Replace seal ring
•   Tighten 4 bolts
•   Fasten clamp 3.5 Nm
11.   Install crash box
•   Tighten 2 nuts 25 Nm
12.   Install fuel filter housing
•   Connect 2 wiring harness plugs
•   Connect 4 lines
13.   Fasten coolant compensation tank
•   Clip in coolant compensation tank
14.   Top up coolant
15.   Close bonnet
