Thermostat Housing, Remove and Install (Z 17 DTH, with AC, LHD)

  Remove

3.   Drain coolant •   Place collecting basin underneath. •   Open coolant drain bolt

4.   Remove throttle valve module (1) •   Detach wiring harness plug (2). •   Detach charge air hose (3) – Release clamp •   Loosen bracket of throttle valve module (4) – Remove bolt •   Unscrew 4 bolts •   Remove gasket.

5.   Remove air intake hose (1) •   Release 2x clamp

6.   Loosen air intake pipe (1) •   Unclip wiring harness •   Unscrew 2 bolts •   Remove engine vent hose

7.   Remove charge air pipe (1) •   Unscrew and remove 3 stud bolts •   Unscrew 3 bolts •   Unscrew nut •   Remove 2 gaskets

10.   Detach exhaust gas recirculation connection (1) •   Disconnect wiring harness plug •   Unscrew 2 lower bolts •   Detach EGR cooler – Unscrew 2 bolts •   Remove bolt

11.   Disconnect upper radiator hose (1) •   From thermostat housing cover 12.   Detach wiring harness bracket (3) •   Oil pressure switch, coolant temperature sensor •   Unscrew 2 bolts 13.   Remove thermostat housing cover (2) •   Unscrew 2 bolts •   Remove thermostat.

14.   Remove thermostat housing (1) •   Disconnect wiring harness plug •   Detach 4 coolant hoses •   Unscrew 2 nuts •   Remove bolt 15.   Clean sealing surfaces •   Cylinder head, thermostat housing cover

  Install

19.   Attach exhaust gas recirculation connection Important:   Seal ring (1) must not be displaced during installation •   Replace gasket, seal ring Note:   Pay attention to different bolt lengths •   Tighten 5 bolts on thermostat housing 24 Nm •   Tighten 2 bolts at exhaust gas recirculation cooler 28.5 Nm
