All 6 - cylinder models are equipped with the familiar rotary - valve power steering. The steering valve used is, as previously, a rotary piston valve.

In the rotary - valve power steering, the segment shaft (3) has been reinforced in diameter from 28 mm / 1.1 in. to 32 mm / 1.3 in. The pressure point is readjusted automatically.

The automatic pressure point readjustment equalizes any tooth backlash which arises from the smoothing process between the segment shaft teeth and the piston.

The installation of a centre - reinforced torsion bar improves the precision and accuracy of straight - ahead steering.

The steering housing is designed for the maximum hydraulic pressure arising at the steering full lock stops.

In the Omega - B, the previously used hydraulic steering limit valve is no longer used.
