Remove
Non-destructive Glass Removal:
Prescribed tools such as wire cutter, electro-pneumatic devices
can be used.
Adhesive thickness / width of adhesive bead (not less than 4mm /
to 20mm in installed condition are within dimensions).
Additional costs or damage e.g. to vulcanised trim strips,
paintwork are only to be expected if there are deviations from this
geometry.
Mask off the paintwork with fabric tape.
Protect the heating conductor cables.
Install
Check paintwork:
After removal, check paintwork, particularly in the area of the
body frame.
Clean bare metal areas, prime, top coat. Do not use glass primer
under any circumstances (corrosion buildup). The glass primer is
only for UV protection and is therefore only applied to the pane of
glass.
Make good minor surface damage using touch-up applicator.
Pane of glass:
Treat new panes of glass in the area of the adhesive zones with
glass primer. If the panes of glass are already cut for
reinstallation, do not use any glass primer on the PU-vulcanisation
or on cut residues of adhesive (poor adhesion).
Apply new adhesive as per instructions. Place pane of glass into
body frame and fix in position using MKM-591 strap retainers.
Observe lay-over time of glass according to glass type and
vehicle equipment (airbag).
