Rear Toothed Belt Cover, Remove and Install > < Toothed Belt Cover, Lower Part, Remove and Install

 

Toothed Belt, Remove and Install  

Object Number: 616191  Size: DEFAULT  Remove, Disconnect   

Disconnect ground cable from battery.  

Remove lower part of toothed belt cover - see operation "Toothed Belt Cover - Lower Part, Remove and Install".  

Object Number: 616198  Size: DEFAULT  Adjust   

Turn crankshaft slowly and smoothly in direction of engine rotation to "1st cylinder ign. TDC" (III). The marks on the camshaft sprockets must be opposite one another and align with the top edge of the cylinder head (I). Fix camshaft sprockets with KM-852 (II).  

Release fastening bolt for toothed belt tension roller (IV) and turn adjusting eccentric in direction of arrow (clockwise) until pointer (1) is located just before left stop.

Object Number: 616191  Size: DEFAULT  Remove, Disconnect   

Mark running direction of the toothed belt for identification and remove toothed belt.  

Object Number: 616201  Size: DEFAULT  Important!   

The toothed belt must be checked for any kinks or cracks before it is fitted and replaced if necessary. Oil-soaked toothed belts or toothed belt tension rollers must always be replaced. The toothed belt is fitted when the engine is cold - room temperature.  

Object Number: 616192  Size: DEFAULT  Install, Connect   

Note running direction of the toothed belt and install toothed belt - ensure that tension side (I) is taut.

Note timing marks!

Object Number: 616192  Size: DEFAULT  Install, Connect   

Adjust toothed belt tension - see operation "Toothed Belt Tension, Adjust".  

Install lower part of toothed belt cover - see operation "Toothed Belt Cover - Lower Part, Remove and Install".  

Connect ground cable to battery.  

Notice: 

Document the replacement of the toothed belt on the sticker provided.
