Fan Motor, Remove and Install  

Notice: 

The operation "Fan Motor, Remove and Install" is described for a vehicle with air conditioning. Proceed similarly in a vehicle without air conditioning.  

  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove intake pipe (above cylinders 2-4-6) - see operation "Intake Pipe (above Cylinders 2-4-6), Remove and Install (X 25 XE)" or "Intake Pipe (above Cylinders 2-4-6), Remove and Install (Y 26 SE)".   Disconnect covers (3 units) above air deflector panel.   Remove front panelling - see operation "Front Panelling, Remove and Install" in group "A".   Remove ground cable from battery. Disconnect positive cable (1) from positive terminal and unclip positive cable from wiring harness bracket.   Remove battery and battery and bracket.   Detach power steering pump fluid reservoir (2) from fan casing - 3 fastening bolts.

  Remove, Disconnect   

Detach multiplug (1) (turn lock).   Disconnect ground cable (2) from body.   Remove upper coolant hose (3) from radiator and coolant pipe - collect escaping coolant.   Remove coolant hose (4) from auxiliary coolant pump, separate recommended cable tie and remove coolant hose from fan casing.   Disconnect wiring harness plug (5).

  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove upper fastening bolt (right) of fan housing.   Loosen fastening bolt for refrigerant lines bracket.   Remove refrigerant lines bracket (1) and set aside.   Detach wiring harness plug from air condition thermoswitch.

  Remove, Disconnect   

Disconnect wiring harness plug from both air conditioning pressure switches (1).   Disconnect wiring harness plug from compressor.   Disconnect wiring harness plug from thermoswitch (arrow).   Remove coolant hose (2) from radiator (from auxiliary coolant pump to radiator).   Remove power steering fluid line and coolant line from brackets on fan casing.   Disconnect fan housing from radiator - upper left fastening bolt.   Carefully remove fan casing with fan motor and auxiliary coolant pump upwards.

  Remove, Disconnect   

Disconnect wiring harness plug (2) for fan motor. Remove fastening bolts (1) and remove fan motor with fan wheel.   Remove retaining clip (3) from fan motor and remove fan wheel from fan motor.     Install, Connect    Fasten fan wheel to fan motor with retaining clip. Attach fan motor to fan casing with fastening bolts (1). Connect wiring harness plug for fan motor.   Insert fan housing with fan motor and auxiliary coolant pump in lower brackets and attach to radiator with upper left fastening bolts. Install power steering fluid line and coolant line in brackets. Attach coolant hose to auxiliary coolant pump.

  Install, Connect   

Attach/ connect wiring harness plugs to both air conditioning pressure switches, air condition thermoswitch, thermoswitch and compressor.  

Attach coolant lines bracket to coolant lines and to radiator together with fan casing.  

Connect wiring harness plug above radiator. Attach upper radiator hose to radiator.  

Attach coolant pipe and radiator hose to auxiliary coolant pump.  

Attach ground cable to body.  

Connect multiple plug (rotary catch).  

Attach power steering pump fluid reservoir to fan casing - 3 fastening bolts.  

Install battery and battery support.  

Clip positive cable onto wiring harness bracket and attach to positive terminal.  

  Install, Connect   

Install front panelling - see operation "Front Panelling, Remove and Install" in group "A".  

Connect covers (3 units) above air deflector panel.  

Install intake pipe (above cylinders 2-4-6) - see operation "Intake Pipe (above Cylinders 2-4-6), Remove and Install (X 25 XE)" or "Intake Pipe (above Cylinders 2-4-6), Remove and Install (Y 26 SE)".  

Connect ground cable to battery.  

  Inspect   

Top up cooling system - see operations "Cooling System, Top up and Bleed" and "Cooling System, Check for Leaks".
