Toothed Belt Tension, Adjust (16 LZ2 and 20 NEJ) Notice: Adjustment is carried out with the engine cold - at room temperature.
 Remove, Disconnect Remove front toothed belt cover - see operation "Front Toothed Belt Cover, Remove and Install (16 LZ2 and 20 NEJ).
 Adjust At fastening bolt of toothed belt drive gear, turn crankshaft slowly and smoothly in direction of engine rotation to marks (2). At the same time, the notches (1) on the camshaft sprocket and the rear toothed belt cover must be aligned. Release fastening bolt (5) of the toothed belt tension roller. Tension toothed belt tension roller at adjustment eccentric (4) in direction of arrow (anticlockwise) until the pointer (3) is positioned just before the right stop. Hand-tighten fastening bolt for toothed belt tension roller. At fastening bolt of toothed belt drive gear, turn the crankshaft two rotations (720 ° ) in engine rotational direction until the timing marks are aligned. |

Adjust Adjustment of new toothed belt: Release fastening bolt of toothed belt tension roller slightly and turn adjustment eccentric in direction of arrow (clockwise) until the pointer (1) of the tension roller is aligned with the notch mark (2). Tighten fastening bolt for toothed belt tension roller - tightening torque 25 Nm / 18 lbf. ft.
 Inspect Turn crankshaft slowly and smoothly another two rotations (720 ° ) in direction of engine rotation to mark "1st cylinder ign. TDC" and check adjustment of toothed belt tension roller. If the marks are not aligned, repeat the adjustment procedure. |

Adjust Run-in Toothed Belt, Adjust: Release fastening bolt of toothed belt tension roller slightly and turn adjustment eccentric in direction of arrow (clockwise) until the pointer (1) of the tension roller is approx. 4 mm to the left of the notch mark (2). Tighten fastening bolt for toothed belt tension roller - tightening torque 25 Nm / 18 lbf. ft.
Inspect Turn crankshaft slowly and smoothly another two rotations (720 ° ) in direction of engine rotation to mark "1st cylinder ign. TDC" and check adjustment of toothed belt tension roller. If the marks are not aligned, repeat the adjustment procedure.
 Install, Connect Install front toothed belt cover - see operation "Front Toothed Belt Cover, Remove and Install (16 LZ2 and 20 NEJ)". |
