Power Steering Pump Power Steering Pump, Remove and Install (Vehicles with 4-Cylinder Petrol Engine, except Z 22 SE)
Remove, Disconnect Siphon off hydraulic fluid. If necessary: Remove air cleaner housing - see illustration "Air Cleaner Housing, Air Duct" in group "J". Mark running direction of ribbed V-belt. Release ribbed V-belt tension in clockwise direction by means of ribbed V-belt tension roller and KM-913-A, and remove ribbed V-belt from power steering pump pulley. For Y 16 XE, Z 16 XE, Z 18 XE and Z 18 XEL: Remove upper radiator hose (6). Unscrew pressure line (1) - place collecting basin underneath. For 16 LZ2, X 18 XE, 20 NEJ, X 20 XEV, C 20 SEL, C 22 SEL: Remove pressure line from auxiliary aggregates support. |
|
Remove, Disconnect For Y 16 XE, Z 16 XE, Z 18 XE and Z 18 XEL: Remove heat shield of exhaust manifold/catalytic converter (5). Remove return line (4) from fluid reservoir. Remove bolts (2) and (3) and remove power steering pump with fluid reservoir. |
|
Install, Connect Attach power steering pump with oil reservoir.
Tighten (Torque) For X 16 SZR, X 16 XEL, Y 16 XE, Z 16 XE, X 18 XE1, Z 18 XE, Z 18 XEL: Power steering pump to auxiliary aggregates support - 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft. For 16 LZ2, X 18 XE, 20 NEJ, C 20 SEL, X 20 XEV, C 22 SEL: Power steering pump to ancillary component support - 25 Nm / 18 lbf. ft. Pressure line to ancillary component support - 7 Nm / 5 lbf. ft. Pressure line to power steering pump - tightening torque 37.5 Nm / 28 lbf. ft.
Install, Connect Attach return line to fluid reservoir - tightening torque 2.5 Nm / 2 lbf. ft. For Y 16 XE, Z 16 XE, Z 18 XE and Z 18 XEL: Attach heat shield to exhaust manifold / catalytic converter - tightening torque 8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft. Tension ribbed V-belt tension roller clockwise with KM-913-A and position ribbed V-belt - note running direction of ribbed V-belt. For Y 16 XE, Z 16 XE, Z 18 XE and Z 18 XEL: Install upper radiator hose. Install air cleaner housing - see illustration "Air Cleaner Housing, Air Duct" in group "J".
Inspect Charge and bleed hydraulic system - see operation "Hydraulic System, Charge and Bleed".
