ATWS Control Unit

The ATWS control unit is located behind the side footwell panelling on the co-driver's side, in the place of the central locking control unit (see section 5.4) and supports both the central locking with radio remote control functions and all ATWS functions.

The following events trigger the alarm when the ATWS is armed:

-  Actuation of one of the standard door contacts caused by door opening.

-  Actuation of luggage compartment illumination switch caused by tailgate/luggage compartment lid opening, without tailgate/luggage compartment lid first being opened with the key.

-  Actuation of bonnet contact caused by bonnet opening.

-  Interruption of heat conductor caused by rear screen being broken.

-  Actuation of armed ultrasonic interior monitor caused by breakage of side screen and/or motion in vehicle interior.

In case of alarm, the standard horn or fanfare and, in addition, the integrated ATWS horn are sounded as an acoustic alarm, and visual alarm is struck by the actuation of all turn signal lamps.

The type and duration of the individual signalling devices are subject to national legislation and are listed in section 5.5.10 "Country Code Table".
