→ 1 = Window lifter, Part No. 171 837 401 A 2 = Window lifter, Part No. 171 837 401 3 = Rectangular opening in inner door panel 4 = Holes in inner door panel In the event of service installation of the left-hand outer rear-view mirror (adjustable from inside) window lifter -2- must always be replaced by window lifter -1- since the former impedes the freedom of movement of the mirror operating lever. 2 = Golf, Golf S, Golf L and Golf LS models are still being delivered after 8/77 with the previous outer rear-view mirror. If service installation of the left-hand outer rear-view mirror (adjustable from inside) is to be carried out on the above-mentioned models only the new mirror must be installed. The left-hand front door in all these models has the necessary elongated holes (21 mm x 26 mm) in the outer door panel and mirror reinforcement, the necessary openings in the inner door panel and the window lifter 171 837 401 A. 3 = The following description of the work sequence for service installation of a left-hand outer rear-view mirror (adjustable from inside) includes removal of the window lifter. Service installation of the outer rear-view mirror (adjustable from inside) in vehicles manufactured after 8/77 is to be carried out in a corresponding manner. The mirror can be replaced with the door installed. The following illustrations show a removed door in order to make things clearer. |
