→ Turn the push rod adjuster with a screwdriver through the backplate hole, until the brake linings contact the brake drum.
Then turn the adjuster back again until the wheel can turned by hand.

Note:

  • ◆ Vehicles with load sensitive brake pressure regulator.
  • ◆ With the vehicle jacked up, a residual pressure remains in the righthand rear wheel, after operating the brake pedal, even though the shoes have slackened off, making it difficult to rotate the wheel. Before adjusting the rear brakes therefore, the brake pressure regulator lever must be pushed towards the rear axle (this releases the residual pressure).
