• ◆ Pull off by hand
• Steering wheel
• ◆ Install with steering in centre position, tongue of cancelling ring points to left
• 50 Nm
• Spacer sleeve
• ◆ After fitting column switch, drive sleeve on to column until distance from end of sleeve to end of column is 41.5 mm. This sets the gap between steering wheel hub and switch (2 - 4 mm) =>Fig. 3
• ◆ To remove, lever out with screwdriver.
• Steering column switch
• ◆ Pull out until it contacts the spacer sleeve =>Fig. 3

=> Repair Group 94

• 10 Nm
• Bearing support ring
• ◆ Not fitted with bearings with plastic inner race
• Steering column
• ◆ Before removing, remove turn signal and wiper switches, lever spacer sleeve off, remove column switch. When installing, do not load axially (max. 50 - 100 kg).
• Column tube
• Shear screw
• ◆ Tighten until head breaks off.
• ◆ To drill out, remove column switch trim
• 20 Nm

• Mounting bush
• ◆ Place in hot water first and press on until dimension "C" is 31 mm
• ◆ Modified bush from 8.74 => Fig. 4

Ring was modified 8.75=>Fig. 4

• ◆ To remove, detach box from body and shift linkage from box, the pull box off studs.

• ◆ Press in

Note

Before removing any electrical components, disconnect the battery earth strap. When installing the steering gear, it is advisable to assemble column tube, column, universal joint shaft and column switch and then fit the complete assembly in the vehicle.

• ‒ Press retaining spring down with a screwdriver and disengage the leaf spring.

• ‒ Insert top of leaf spring into bracket as shown (arrow A) and press it in at the botom with a screwdriver until it engages the retaining spring.

• ‒ Bush is slotted from 8.75. The lug on the bush engages in a hole in the tube (-arrow-).
• ‒ Bush must fit closely roung tube. If necessary lug on bush should be knocked in by tapping with a hammer.
