About the 200 Series
The 240 and 260 were made from 1974 to 1993, developed from the 140 Series with safety ideas from Volvo's VESC experimental safety car. More than 2.8 million were built as saloons, estates and a few convertibles, and they established Volvo's reputation for safety and durability. The 260 ended in 1984, but the 240 continued until 14 May 1993.
