Anti-Corrosion Treatment
Anti-corrosion treatment of condenser/pressure pipe fittings
Anti-corrosion treatment of condenser/pressure pipe screwed fittings may be carried out, for example, when replacing the condenser.
On cars produced before March 1993, the fittings are provided with securing nuts. Cars produced afier this date are provided with "block fittings" and
are unaffected by this procedure.
Proceed as follows when condenser replacement has been completed:
1. Install and tighten couplings.
Tighten:

inlet coupling (1) to 25 Nm (18 ft lb) or 15 Nm (11 ft lb) on 1992 models

outlet coupling (2) to 20 Nm (15 ft lb) or 10 Nm (7.5 ft lb) on 1992 models

connection pipe (silencer) - compressor coupling (3) to 18 Nm (13 ft lb).
2. Top up refrigerant.
Test for leaks. Use leak detector 9511207-4. Check operation.
3. Apply masking tape to both sides of each fitting (illustration A).
Place tape on pipe 10 mm from fitting.
4. Apply anti-rust agent, P/N 1381065-0, liberally around complete fitting, nut and pipe, and in inspection hole in nut.
5. Remove tape.
Wrap butyl tape, P/N 1277296-8, around fitting (illustration B). Compress tape to ensure tight seal.
