CAUTION! Do not turn the steering wheel when the contact reel is locked or the pin on the contact reel will break.
Carefully lift the steering wheel out without turning it. Allow the wire and the plastic tape to pass through the opening in the steering wheel.
Remove:
3 screws, Torx 20, from the steering column cover
2 screws, Torx 20, from each selector.
CDA15. Removal of contact reel/SRS
Remove:
the steering column cover and selector according to CDA14
3 screws on the contact reel/SRS
the connector from the contact reel.
Assembly
CDA16. Resetting the contact reel to zero
If the locking screw is not in the lock position as shown in the figure, reset the contact reel to zero. For resetting to zero See: Contact Reel
NOTE: The new contact reel is reset to zero when locking screws are positioned in the lock position. Resetting to zero ensures that all electrical
functions on the steering column operate and damage to the contact reel does not occur.
CDA17. Installation of contact reel/SRS
Install:
The contact reel/SRS
3 screws on the contact reel/SRS. Tighten the screws on the contact reel to 2.5 Nm (1.9 ft-lb). Make sure that no wires are trapped
