Scrapping
For Deliberate Release Of SIPS Bag, Volvo Recommends The Following:
If the Car is to be scrapped, the SIPS bag should be released in place in the car.
If a removed SIPS bag is to be scrapped, the SIPS bag cushion module should be placed in a vise before release.
WARNING: Make sure that no one is in the car and no one is in front of the SIPS bag, when the SIPS bag is released. Release of a loosely
clamped or unclamped SIPS bag can cause personal injury.
NOTE: Safety glasses and hearing protection should be used during this procedure.

If car is to be scrapped

Turn ignition off.
Make sure that SIPS bag is securely fastened to the seat and there are no loose parts around the SIPS bag.

Attach transport safety device to sensor unit.

Remove sensor unit and free firing circuit from cable ties and clips.

Close front doors and windows.

Pull sensor unit to floor behind seat.

Remove transport safety device from sensor unit.

Stand outside the car and hit the middle of the sensor unit with a hammer.
