H01 Vehicle drifting

Whilst driving in a straight line, the vehicle tends to drift towards the right and/or the left.

Step	Test procedure	Result	Action
0	PRELIMINARY CHECKS Verify: tyre condition and pressures; free rotation of wheels; visually inspect the underbody to check for dents or bent suspension components	OK	Move onto step 1
		Abnormal tyre wear	Replace the tyres and carry out balancing End of diagnosis
		Abnormal tyre wear	Restore the correct front wheel geometry Op. 4450A10 End of diagnosis
		Rear wheel geometry not correct	Restore the correct rear wheel geometry Op. 4450A10 End of diagnosis
		Abnormal tyre wear	Check the condition of the bearings, hubs and calipers If necessary, replace the parts concerned End of diagnosis
1	CHECK ON DRIFT Test the vehicle on a straight line, on a good road surface and with no wind and check that there is no drift	OK	Incorrect selection of diagnostic procedure
		The car drifts	Swap over the front wheels and continue Move onto step 2
		Implausible parameters	Continue following the instructions given by the diagnostic equipment End of diagnosis
2	CHECK ON DRIFT Test the vehicle on a straight line, on a good road surface and with no wind and check that there is no drift	OK	Incorrect selection of diagnostic procedure
		The drift has changed direction	Replace the tyres and continue Move onto step 3
		The drift has changed direction	Swap over the front/rear wheels on the same side and continue Move onto step 3
3	CHECK WHEEL GEOMETRY Check the front and rear wheel geometry	OK	Move onto step 4
		Connections not correct	Incorrect front geometry End of diagnosis
		Pump faulty	Restore the correct front wheel geometry Op. 4450A10 End of diagnosis
		Pump faulty	Restore the correct rear wheel geometry Op. 4450A10 End of diagnosis
		Pump faulty	Check the condition of the bearings, hubs and calipers If necessary, replace the parts concerned End of diagnosis
4	CHECK ON DRIFT Test the vehicle on a straight line, on a good road surface and with no wind and check that there is no drift	OK	Move onto step 5
4		The vehicle still drifts	Replace the differential unit End of diagnosis
5	CHECK ON STEERING WHEEL RETURN Test the vehicle on a straight line, on a good road surface and with no wind and check that there is no drift when the steering wheel returns after a steering action	OK	Move onto step 6
5		The vehicle drifts on return of the steering wheel: different caster on right and left	Restore the correct geometry Op. 4450A10 End of diagnosis
6	HECK ON CORRECT OPERATION Check that the fault is no longer present	OK	Incorrect selection of diagnostic procedure
