H02 Drifting when braking

During braking, the car pulls to the right and/or left

Step	Test procedure	Result	Action
0	PRELIMINARY CHECKS Check that the brake pedal is not too soft	OK	Move onto step 1
0		Brake pedal too soft	See table F10 EXCESSIVE BRAKE PEDAL STROKE End of diagnosis
1	CHECK FOR FLUID LEAKS Check that there are no fluid leaks from: calipers master cylinder - condition of braking system	OK	Move onto step 2
		Fluid leak from a front caliper	Replace the faulty caliper Op. 3310A30 End of diagnosis
		Fluid leak from a front caliper	Replace the faulty caliper Op. 3310B36 End of diagnosis
2	CHECK ON BRAKE WEAR Check the state of wear of the brakes - condition of brake surfaces	OK	Move onto step 3
		Brakes very worn	Overhaul the brakes End of diagnosis
		Brakes very worn	Clean and check for causes End of diagnosis
3	CHECK WHEEL GEOMETRY Check the geometry and track of the wheel axle	OK	Move onto step 4
		Front wheel geometry outside limits	Restore the correct front wheel geometry Op. 4450A10 End of diagnosis
		Front wheel geometry outside limits	Restore the correct rear wheel geometry Op. 4450A40 End of diagnosis
4	CHECK WITH DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT Connect diagnostic equipment (Examiner or other instruments) to the diagnostic socket. Check that there are no faults in the ABS control unit	OK	Move onto step 5
		An error is detected in the control unit	Continue following the instructions for the diagnostic equipment End of diagnosis
		An error is detected in the control unit	Restore the connection between the engine management control unit and the diagnostic connector Wiring diagram E7020 ABS End of diagnosis
5	CHECK ON DRIFT Disconnect the ABS control unit. Check whether there is drifting during braking at variable speeds	OK	Move onto step 6
5		Vehicle does not drift during braking	Replace ABS control unit Op. 3340A12 Note: Carry out filling with the diagnostic instrument in active diagnosis End of diagnosis
6	CHECK ON CORRECT OPERATION Test the vehicle before delivery to the customer, to check that the fault is no longer present. NOTE: The test is essential, as the braking system involves a safety feature of the car	OK	Incorrect selection of diagnostic procedure
