Removing and installing handbrake cable Removing –  Release handbrake. –  Remove rear ashtray from centre console. –  Fold back cover section (under ashtray) to remove.

–  Loosen adjustment nut -2- until the handbrake cable can be unhooked from the compensator.

–  Pry off spring clip -1- for handbrake cable. –  Press brake lever -2- in direction of arrow and disengage handbrake cable -3-.

–  Unscrew hexagon bolt -1- and detach handbrake cable -2- from cable bracket.

–  Unhook handbrake cable -1- and pull it out through guide slot. Installing Installation is performed in reverse sequence; note the following:

–  Insert handbrake cable through guide slot -2- and hook into place -1-.

–  Attach handbrake cable -2- to rear axle beam.

–  Press handbrake lever -2- in direction of arrow and attach handbrake cable -3-. –  Press on spring clip -1- for handbrake cable.

–  Hook handbrake cable -1- into compensator -3-.

–  Pre-tension handbrake cable with adjustment nut -2-. –  Adjust handbrake → Chapter.
