  Note
t  Use the brake filling and bleeding equipment -VAS 5234- to extract brake fluid from brake fluid reservoir.
t  Before removing brake caliper or disconnecting brake hose from brake caliper, insert brake pedal actuator -V.A.G 1869/2- to prevent brake fluid reservoir from emptying completely.
  WARNING
After installing the brake pads, depress pedal firmly several times with the vehicle stationary, so that the brake pads are properly seated in their normal operating position.
t  Install all parts supplied in repair kit.
t  After renewing brake pads, depress brake pedal firmly several times with vehicle stationary so that the pads are properly seated in their normal operating position.
   
1 - Bleeder screw
q   10 Nm
  Note
Bleed brake caliper at each bleeder screw.
2 - Bolt
q   Unscrew for removal of brake caliper
q   200 Nm
  Note
Always renew bolts if removed
3 - Speed sensor
4 - Bolt
q   For speed sensor
q   8 Nm
5 - Brake caliper
  Note
Do not suspend from brake hose after removal. Secure it to the body with a suitable wire.
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   Renewing → Chapter
6 - Brake disc
q   Wear limit
  Note
Remove brake caliper prior to removing
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
7 - Bolt
q   For securing brake disc
q   4 Nm
  Note
Use new bolt if removed
8 - Brake pads
q   With pad wear indicator wire (only in left brake caliper)
q   Wear limit
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
Before fitting pads, clean guides and apply a thin coating of grease → ETKA.
Before fitting pads, peel off adhesive foil
9 - Pad wear indicator wire
q   Only installed in left brake caliper
10 - Retaining clip
q   Ensure correct installation position
  Note
Insert pad wear indicator wire in retaining clip. Only installed in left brake caliper
11 - Brake pad retaining pins
  Note
Take care not to scratch or damage the brake caliper during removal and installation
12 - Bolt
q   For bracket
q   18 Nm
13 - Brake hose
q   Screw into brake caliper
q   Insert in bracket
q   35 Nm
Tightening torque for brake hose to brake caliper for RS 3: 35 Nm
  Note
Ensure that hose is seated correctly in bracket. Do not twist when fitting
14 - Bracket
q   For brake hose and pad wear indicator wire
