| Battery must not be connected to vehicle electrical system when performing rapid-charging. Disconnect earth and positive cables → Chapter. |

| Do NOT attempt to rapid-charge exhausted batteries. |

| Switch off ignition and take out ignition key. |

| If fitted, detach rubber seal of plenum chamber cover in direction of -arrow-. |
| –
| Remove plenum chamber cover -1- to front. |
|
|
|
| –
| If fitted, fold up cover over positive terminal. |
| –
| Disconnect earth cable -1- and positive cable -2- at battery. |

| The battery plugs must be screwed in tightly when charging, measuring voltage or performing load tests. |

| Ensure good ventilation. |
| t
| Smoking or the use of naked lights are not allowed in rooms in which batteries are being charged. The reason for this is that inflammable gasses are formed during the battery charging process. |

| Heed safety regulations of the charger and battery manufacturers. |

| The battery temperature must be at least +10 °C. |
| t
| Rapid-charging of batteries should only be performed in exceptional circumstances (e.g. boost starting) as rapid-charging may cause damage. |
